The Bradford and Airedale Manufacturing Alliance (BAMA) exists to help manufacturers work together for mutual benefit. Some of the key members of the group form a Steering committee. The committee meet on a regular basis to discuss upcoming events and other ways we can help grow manufacturing in the region.

Stephen Wright — Managing Director of Thorite

Thorite are the UK’s leading value-added distributor of compressed air and pneumatic products, with 9 branches across the North of England.
Having worked in the business in a variety of roles for over 30 years and gained academic and industry qualifications, I feel confident that Thorite continues to offer it’s customers and potential clients the best in knowledge and experience within the industry whilst providing a quality of service and logistics that none can match.In my role at Thorite I see a great deal of manufacturing industry and from the evidence I see, I know that manufacturing still has a great role to play in the UK economy.I’m keen to get involved in how our industry evolves and I sit on the Distributor Committee of the British Compressed Air Society (BCAS). As members of the Engineering Employers Federation, I’m a member of the Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Council. As a Bradfordian and proud of it, I am President of the Bradford Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors and get involved in a wide range activities for the Chamber including lobbying at a local, regional and national level.

Sandy Needham — Chief Executive of Bradford Chamber

Sandy joined the Chamber network in 1997 and was Chief Executive of Chamber Management Services, a joint venture owned by the Bradford, Leeds and York & North Yorkshire Chambers until 2001.  Since then she has been Chief Executive of the Bradford Chamber, as well as a Director of its subsidiary company, the Bradford Enterprise Agency, involved in providing business loans.The Bradford Chamber is the voice of around 1100 local businesses of all sizes and sectors and it provides a wide range of business services, primarily in the Bradford District.  It also delivers international, environmental and financial services across West and North Yorkshire.  Through the Rising Stars programme the Chamber is working with companies that high growth potential.Sandy is a Board member of the Bradford District Partnership, a member of the University of Bradford’s Council, a member of the Bradford Employment and Skills Board, of the West Yorkshire Common Purpose Advisory Group and a member of the regional Women’s 2 Per Cent Club. She is keen to see more support being given to manufacturers, to facilitate the supply chain and to lobby decision-makers on issues that matter to the sector.
